Pain Point

Notion users, especially those running businesses, suffer from 'Database Fragmentation.' Because Notion encourages creating separate databases for separate projects/clients, users end up with tasks spread across dozens of pages. There is no simple, lightweight way to see every 'Due Today' item from every workspace in one interface without building complex, fragile Relation/Rollup systems.

Target Users

  • Agency Owners: Managing 5-10 client projects in different Notion folders/workspaces.
  • Serial Entrepreneurs: Running multiple companies with separate Notion accounts.
  • Power Users: Individuals who use Notion for everything but are frustrated by the slow mobile experience and fragmented task views.

Evidence

Source discussions show users specifically asking if they need a 'separate app' because Notion lacks a dedicated, unified to-do list interface. Multiple comments highlight the struggle of monitoring tasks 'across businesses' and 'across teamspaces' within Notion.

MVP Idea

Build a 'Unified Task Feed' for Notion. Users connect their Notion account via OAuth, select the databases they want to track, and the app displays a prioritized list of tasks from all sources. Users can mark tasks as 'Done' directly in the app, which syncs back to the original Notion database.

Why Users Pay

This is a 'Time & Anxiety' saver. Professional users managing teams or clients will pay to ensure they don't miss a deadline due to a task being hidden in an obscure Notion page. It replaces the manual morning routine of 'checking all the dashboards.'

Implementation Difficulty

Low to Medium. The Notion API is robust. The main challenge is handling different property names (e.g., one database uses 'Date', another uses 'Deadline') which can be solved with a simple mapping UI during onboarding.

Competitors and Alternatives

  • Notion Home: Recently launched, but users still find it restrictive for cross-account or highly customized views.
  • Sunsama/Akiflow: These are high-end daily planners that cost $15-30/mo. A dedicated Notion task-only tool could win on price and specific deep Notion features.
  • Manual Templates: Users currently try to solve this with 'Master Task Databases,' but these are famously difficult to maintain as the workspace grows.

Go To Market

The Notion ecosystem is highly centralized around influencers (YouTube) and communities (Reddit). By engaging with people who are already watching 'How to organize my business in Notion' videos, you find the exact segment currently feeling the pain of scaling their Notion setup.

Revenue Potential

At $15/month, 100 users generate $1.5k MRR. Given the millions of Notion users and the high percentage of power users who hit this 'fragmentation wall,' reaching 500-1,000 subscribers is a realistic medium-term goal for a solo developer.

I'm curious... do you use 17 different Notion accounts, one for each business... or do you have one teamspace for each business within a single Notion account? Especially if you have team members working across multiple businesses, who therefore need to be monitoring tasks and to-do's across businesses.

centralize to do database from multiple pages. We can make many pages in many area or project. Sometime we just want to make simple to do on those pages but out to do monitor is on different pages. Currently my workaround is make database view on every pages that have to do, but its quiet a step. Any simpler way Jeff?

So you do not even show "to do tasks"? I mean where you make a task for you for example "on april 25 i have to make a call to the client"? To do list is huge part of the business. Are you using separate app for to do tracking?
